Snowmaking at Cascade

Snowmaking at Cascade

I spent the morning at Cascade Mountain and they were making snow. Word has it that temperature and humidity are just barely in the range for daytime snowmaking, so they’re able to go in about 20 hour shots with little melt off. Optimistic opening day is still pegged at next Saturday, and while there’s no official word on whether that’s going to happen, it sounds like if the weather says cool and dry Cascade will open with Schoolmarm and Cindy Pop on Saturday morning.

Practicing Evacuation Procedures

Lift Evacuation Instructor refresher went well, with no major changes to the procdures. Also, it looks like I’ll be taking a shift as toboggan instructor during candidate traingin this year. Of course, I’m last to choose a class, so I’ll probably be in the bumps. It’s not technically challenging, but its a lot of work. Maybe I can tow someone light for the demo.  I might know of someone.
